Thanks to everyone that provided advice and insight on the 2 stroke scooters!! I want to start looking at a few different makes. I saw and liked the Yamaha BWS but I want to check out a few others first. I like the look of the Derbi Atlantis who sells these guys? Either I'm not googeling it properly or there are not many dealers.
Anyone that has comments about the BWS or any other good brand of 2 stroke 50 cc I would appreciate their input! Thanks! |

Derbi Atlantis' are over at Motoretta (www.motoretta.ca , call the location first maybe)
Derbi is owned by Piaggio, they're under the same Piaggio umbrella of companies with the guys who make Moto Guzzi, Aprilia, Vespa, yata yata. Derbi is the long lost spanish cousin. |

I think Jason is suggesting that you check out the Kymco S9. It is the same scooter that he rides. It is known to be a very good scooter and can attain which good speeds for a 50 cc scooter.
The Derbi line up isn't being brought into Canada anymore by the distributor. However, if you call the dealerships, ie Motoretta for example, you might be able to get a left over model. Several people in the club have the Atlantis and are more than happy with them. |

Kymco S9 is a great scoot with lots of potential or just the way it is, other models also. What about the Apprillia, pricing is quite competitive and has dealer support. Get yourself out to Pickering Motors for a test ride on some of their stuff.

Kymco has their Super 9 which is a very high performance liquid cooled two stroke with a price to match it's performance. They also have the very nice and much more reasonably priced Vitality 50. Kymcos have an excellent reputation for quality and a couple of good dealers in the area, such as Pickering Village Motors and Pannon Sports.

I know that Motoretta Eurosport (eglinton and laird) has a couple of Derbi Atlantis' (Bullets) one red, one white.
I used to have one, good scooter. I wouldn't worry about them not being imported to Canada anymore (if that's true), for service and parts they'll be supported by Piaggio through Motoretta, I'm sure. |

Still a noob myself, take my opinion as only that.
Really? 2 stroke? Aren't you at all concerned/curious as to why there is controversy? 4 strokes, while a little slower, runs a lot cleaner. While that is apparently not important to many, going forward with the information you have available should have some influence on your choice, shouldn't it? Plus, not unlike most of us, I'm biased towards my ride, which I love. I purchased my first scooter this spring, an '03 Honda Ruckus, and I gotta say I've yet to be disappointed. Bathurst & Eglinton to King & Spadina daily is my commute, and I keep up with traffic no problem, both ways. Don't take my word for it though. What has got to be one of the most amazing scooter adventures is happening right now. A Korean guy arrived in the U.S. last year, bought a Ruckus, and scooted (Rucked?) from the east to LA, and now he's on his way back. It's an unbelievably inspiring story. AND he's inadvertently joining scooter enthusiasts together from all over the world, all while posting some of the most incredible pics from his adventure. I recommend that everyone here check it out. Go to totalruckus.com and search Wan. And at the very least it'll show all of the non-believers what a 4 stroke Honda Ruckus is capable of. p.s. This 4 stroke doesn't require anything other than regular motor oil. |
