[ Note: start location has changed. See below ] There's a great ride thru the scenic Caledon backroads...all paved! The greenery is everywhere now making this a great little 'north of Toronto' ride for the start of the season. The actual scenic portion takes just over an hour, with a stop in Kleinberg for a snack on the outdoor "CoffeeTime" patio, smack in the middle of this quaint little village. We'll be a half hour here, so you can just sit or buy a coffee and stroll down the main street of Kleinberg.. it's only a couple of blocks to walk from end to end.

We'll meet on SUNDAY, MAY 18TH, 9:30 a.m. at 147 Laird, just north of Esander Dr and less than a km.south of Eglinton. Av. at the Leaside Smart Centre on the east side of Laird. Look for the red Vespa in the parking lot.
We leave the parking lot at 10:00 a.m.sharp. If the Smart Centre on Laird Drive is not a convenient start location for you, you can meet us in Kleinburg instead. Please be in Kleinburg at CoffeeTime parking lot, within the estimated "window" of 11:15 to 11:45 or earlier. If you want to meet us and start in Kleinberg, here is a location map:
http://www.wingnutty....
From Kleinberg, we will take the scenic route north, finishing at the Caledon Inn, (just north
of Caledon East Village) on Airport Road, by 1:00 p.m. for a lunch on their patio. For a detailed map of this "scenic route", go to www.wingnutty.ca and check out TOUR 1. We hope to return to Kleinburg (or home) after lunch, probably by 2 pm or so. It is 35 minutes back to Kleinberg. It is necessary that your bike can sustain 90 kph and you leave our staging area with a full tank of gas from where ever you decide to start. Please make sure your scoot is in running order, and that you arrive on-time, especially for the Laird Drive
starting location. If rain is expected on the 18th, we'll postpone for another day. Check the Meet-Up website the night before, and if still in doubt, at 8 a.m.the day of, for any "Messages" re. postponement.

All riders are expected to read our waiver and group riding guidelines prior to attending any group rides.

Q & I escorted Roger up to Major Mac and then came back, with a quick stop in at Costco! Tried out my new rain suit and absolutely loved riding in the rain with it!!!

Who attended?

    •  We got rained out and stayed in Kleinburg. We had a super fantastic dessert and coffee there at a place called Dolcini. We all have to go there!Fantastic! We pigged out.

Gord the ride leader showed good skills in getting to Kleinburg which was to be the start point. It was raining lightly. We stopped to see what the weather would do and Gord wisely decided not to go ahead with the intended ride. We had fun eating excellent desserts and drinking great coffee. A fun get together that hopefully will come off at another date when the weather cooperates.
    •  We got rained out. 3 of us scooted over to Kleinberg in the rain, via the scenic backroads, and ate some lovely tasting items at Dolciti's coffee and pastry shop, which made up for the lack of ride, cuz the stuff we ate was "decadent". Mmmmm! We sat and fill our faces with food and drink for over an hour and a half, and had an interesting conversation about this and that, while taking a peek outside every so often to see if the rain had abated. Will re-schudule the same ride for another time. Thanks for the effort of those who made it to Laird and then thought better of it, and went home. I would have done the same thing, and in hindsight, it was the right move.
    •  Only went for coffee and a short jaunt to Bayview. Hope everyone who went on the full ride had a blast despite the rain.
    •  Did not attend as rain was an issue. Arrived at start point at Laird. Rain began. My initial thought, arranging the ride through Caledon is a great idea. However, for those of us who live south of the 401 some consideration for the return trip need to be planned.
