Yup, little thing runs great. I now do remember to put my foot on the brake...I hear my brakes squeeling when I stop though, so maybe it's best I don't stop. biggrin Thanks for asking.

Well actually I noticed I have to have my foot in the right position on the brake then it works great. I will need to take it in just to have the mech. have a look at things. Not a lot of bike mechanics work on these little things such as scooters. They are still pretty rare out this way. I phoned one mechanic and he laughed and said "no" but then I told him it was a Honda 250 then he said he does...so I don't know. My regular mechanic is indisposed right now, I think I might just wait until he is able to take the scoot. I noticed a few body work area's that need work. There is a broken piece under the right mirror, like a piece of fiberglass in missing, and there is a crack along the top right. These being only cosmetic does not bother me ....yet.

That's pretty kool. How big is your scoot? (cc's)

Oops, I'm not sure -- the wowner's manual says it shoudl be 198 cc
Th eshop says it can go 110 km/hr

so.. Enough cc for me!

michelle, I hope you get your brake fixed - sounds scary for you, otherwise!

The one I reposted is fine. The previous ones got cut off somehow -- odd.

(yes they look the same but this board truncates links when you post them)

Tim,

There are 2 ways you can tap into.

1) is direct off the battery this is the safest way to go as its fuzed and its easy to install. This is not switched so If need be you will have to add a switch to prevent draing the battery.

2) is off the running light(s) on the front of the scooter. These are switched off of the kill switch. If you go this way you can neatly run the power wire into the glove box. Just make sure if you do this you put a fuze inline to prevent any chances of a short killing your battery or the bike.

If you do this can I come by and take a few photos for my records ect.

Ciao for now

Thanks Glen. I think I'll go the running light method. I believe that is what is intended, the unit comes with a fairly short fused cable. I'm sure it is designed to handle any surges or spikes since it has a battery and is basically charging it. There are no particulars or warnings and I don't think a major rewiring of the bike should be required to hook up a GPS that is designed for a motorbike application.

I'll post when I have it wired and get some shots for you. The Zumo 550 is a sweet unit!

Update: pics and mounting details here
