Hi Gang,

As mentioned in an earlier thread we are planning to set up something with one of the local rider training outfits for those who want to get their full M license this year.

I have been in touch with RTI (Rider Training Institute) and they will work with us to set up some courses for those who are interested.

Note: If you got your M2 through an officially approved course (RTI, Humber etc) you must have it a full 18 months before you can test for your full M. If you got your M2 independently you must hold it for 22 months before you can test for the M.

Details:

The course is one evening of theory and one day of riding/testing. Anyone riding a scoot with a displacement of 125-200ccs can participate. If you have a 250cc or higher engine you must take the course with the motorcycles. The evening portion will likely be a Wednesday or Thursday, and the full day the following Sunday.

We are looking at September 14th, 21st and/or 28th.

The maximum number of participants for each course is 4.

The cost for the course is $351.75. Payment in full is due two weeks before the course date.

The following individuals listed themselves as interested:

Debbie- eligible May 1, 2008, 150cc
Fabian- eligible now, 200cc
Benny- eligible April 8, 2008, 250cc
Cynthia- eligible Oct 2008, 250cc
Tim- eligible May 1, 2008, 150cc
Carolyn- eligible May 2008, 150cc
Rica- eligible Jan 2009, 150cc
Shelley- eligible end 2008, 150cc
Steve (Sparky)- eligible now, 150cc
Rob (Spiderman!)- eligible now, 150cc
Matt- eligible March 2009, 150cc
Michael Bonini- eligible now, 125cc
Danyelle Boily- eligible now, 125cc
Mark- eligible now, 200cc
Jason- eligible now, who knows, maybe interested, maybe not...
Patrick Yeung - eligible now, 177 cc
JPOMA- now, Vino 125

Obviously we need only serious applicants. I can't set everything up and have folks change their minds a couple of weeks before the course.

Please send me a message if you would like to participate and include your first and second choice of dates. Please include your phone number in the message so that I can contact you! (Just click the little envelope under my avatar to send me a message).

The theory portion will likely be at the RTI downtown office and the road portion will likely take place on the Allen.

P.S. For those who want to do this on their own with the Ministry directly the test fee is $75.00. They do have limited space for testing so if you want to book a spot you can do so on the following site:
Drivetest

There is a document in the "file" section of our group (left hand side of your screen) that shows you all the things they watch for during the test!

Update- I have emailed all those who contacted me wanting to take part in the course. RTI is aware of our interest but will only take a booking in July for the fall. I will add more information as I get it.

I will not be able to make that date. My M2 will have expired by then. Thanks for keeping me in the loop though.

I am interested in potentially signing up for this course.

In the meantime, can anyone advise re highway requirements as my Fly 150 tops out at approx 90-95 kph and on other sites they suggest you have to be able to attain the max highway speed for the M2X.

Appreciate any advice.

I am a noobie!...LOL...Need to wait a few more months for the M2X (In February 2009, I will complete the 18 months period).

However, if I may add a comment to this thread, I am very glad to see the group approaching RTI!...They are simply amazing!...I did my M2 with them, and later I joined a "Group Ride" to the Badlands, ON, and they are fantastic, and very supportive, as well!...I look forward to go back to them, next year, to complete my M2X. Maybe then there are a few more of us to go together.
